Use of Psychedelics in Medical Research
Partial compliance.
Mexico has a national legal framework permitting scientific and medical research involving controlled psychotropic substances, subject to sanitary authorization, approved research protocols, and ethical and institutional oversight. The applicable legislation therefore provides a specific legal pathway for conducting research with these substances under regulated conditions.
However, the reviewed evidence does not sufficiently demonstrate recent authorizations, human clinical trials, or operational medical-research programs involving psychedelics during the assessment period.
Under the Operational Manual, the existence of a relevant legal or policy framework without demonstrated implementation corresponds to partial compliance rather than complete non-compliance. The indicator is therefore classified as yellow. Factor X does not apply.
