Costs of Overdose Emergencies
The criterion is partially established.
Mexico has official records on emergency care, fentanyl-related cases, hospital discharges, mortality, and IMSS institutional unit costs. These sources establish that relevant events and potential cost components are available.
However, no national methodology was identified that links each overdose episode to the resources used and corresponding costs across the different health subsystems. There is also no reproducible aggregate estimate that prevents double counting between emergency care, hospitalization, and mortality.
The indicator therefore receives an orange classification. X is not activated because no indicator-specific international cooperation was identified that implemented a verifiable domestic measurement of these costs.
